Root Canal/Endodontic Treatment
A root canal is the naturally occurring space within the root of the tooth consisting of soft tissue of nerves and vessels also known as the “pulp”.
When bacterial enter the tooth through deep cavities, cracked or leaking fillings, your tooth can become abscessed. An abscessed tooth is a tooth with an infection in the pulp or nerves of the tooth and may cause pain and or swelling.
Root canal treatment, also know as Endodontic treatment is the process required to remove the infected, injured or dead pulp from your tooth thereby allowing you to keep the tooth. It may require one or more appointments to complete. He nerve chamber and canals of the tooth are cleaned, shaped, filled and sealed to prevent reinfection from occurring. The tooth is then restored appropriately as recommended by Dr Kulik to ensure the integrity and strength of the tooth. The only other alternative is to remove tooth. If left untreated an abscessed tooth can lead to serious oral health problems.
