Snoring is caused by the vibration of the soft palate and uvula which occurs during sleep when the airway is obstructed. Snoring can be serious both socially and medically.  Kulik dental in conjunction with a local ENT surgeon are pleased to be able to offer the Pillar Procedure, a minimally invasive alternative to bulky dental appliances and surgery used in the treatment of snoring.

Pillar Procedure

The Pillar procedure is a relatively new technique and is the first and only FDA-cleared implant system used to treat the soft palate component of snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It is designed to help the patient sleep better and improve their overall quality of life.

The Pillar procedure is typically performed in office under local anaesthetic. During the procedure three tiny implants are placed into the soft palate. These firm woven inserts, help to stiffen the soften palate making it less susceptible to vibration due to the moving of airflow when breathing.  Although this is not for all snoring and sleep apnea, it does help conditions associated with the soft palate.  A consultation with our on site ENT will determine whether the Pillar procedure is right for you.
